John Hathorne
Wikipedia
It is possible there are two John Hathorne's as Vindicta was killed by one during the Salem Witch Trials in the 1600s but as current period is in the 1900s it is likely that the "controversial speaker" John Hathorne currently in New York is a descendant.
It is hinted that John Hathorne is a member of or a higher up in the Friends of Humanity group that Vindicta is up against.
There was an assassination attempt on his life according to a news headline.
