The Minimap is a simplified depiction of the map from above. It is used in a match to navigate the map, see the location of teammates, and to see any enemy players within the player's or players' teammates line of sight.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Things that reveal the player to enemies on the minimap[edit | edit source]

  • Shooting enemy Troopers.
  • Being targeted or shot at by enemy Troopers.
  • Shooting at enemy defensive structures (Guardians, Walkers, Shrines, Patron).
    • This includes shooting them from an angle where the structure cannot see or shoot back. The act of shooting at the structure is what causes the player to appear on the enemy minimap, regardless of location.
  • Being targeted or shot at by enemy defensive structures.
  • Being within a certain radius of enemy defensive structures.
    • This can be thought of as the enemy defensive structures having some vision in an area around them. They can "see" the player, and this causes the player to show up on the enemy minimap.
    • The radius of this "vision" differs between the types of structures, but is shorter than each structure's respective targeting ranges.
A visual of the maximum range that the player will reveal enemy heroes (that are in line of sight) on the minimap
  • Being in an enemy heroes' line of sight, within a certain range.
    • Important note: This is specific to the heroes' line of sight, not the enemy player's line of sight.
      • A straight line drawn between the center of both heroes needs to be free of vision blockers in order to reveal the heroes on the minimap.
        • Leaning around a corner exposes only the hero's torso, and so will not reveal the player on the minimap in the case that there are enemy heroes around that corner.
        • This means that while leaning around a corner, the hero will not reveal any enemies that are around that corner.
  • Being very near an enemy hero that is facing away from the player.
    • Even if the hero does not appear on the enemy player's screen, the hero will be revealed on the minimap by being too close to them (assuming no vision blockers).
    • The range of this is just less than the maximum range that a light melee will damage them.
Bebop cannot see McGinnis on his minimap, and McGinnis would not be able to see Bebop on the minimap (were she looking at him).

Things that will not reveal the player to enemies on the minimap[edit | edit source]

  • Standing near enemy Troopers while they are not shooting at or targeting the player.
  • Using abilities or items on enemy Troopers
  • Enemy Troopers riding a zipline near or above the player.
